CIMTechniques offers a broad selection of user-configurable and ready-to-run data acquisition, monitoring, and supervisory control products and systems for a wide variety of applications in science and industry.  This page contains each of the major components that are used to create these systems and are provided to end-users and systems integrators who want to create their own applications.

CIMScan:

Data Acquisition, Monitoring and Supervisory Control (SCADA) Software

CIMScan

Our flagship product is a user-configurable and user-maintainable Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition software package called CIMScan.  The first CIMScan package was delivered in 1995 and the product has been continuously improved ever since.  The software can runs on standard PC's under Windows 2000/XP.  CIMScan can be easily configured to display user-created HMI graphics, real-time trend and bar charts, and data in spreadsheet format.  Historical data can be logged directly to standard databases like Access, Oracle, and others or it can be simply written to files for later recall and analysis.

CIMScan is available in four different packages with increasing capability.

  • CIMScan-BAS is basic package with up to 350 DB points plus scripts, analog, digital, state, and text data types, and other capabilities.

  • CIMScan-PRO is the professional version that contains up to 16,380 database points, scripts, recipe recall, and many other functions.

  • CIMScan-RA is the server package that has all the basic capabilities of PRO, plus allows other PC's on the network to access the real-time database using a CIMScan client.

CIMRecall:

Post Acquisition Analysis Software

CIMRecall

Most users configure CIMScan to store historical data in log files.  This method is dependable and avoids the overhead of the database management system.  Our CIMRecall package is a standalone application that helps you evaluate the data collected in these log files.

You can merge data from log files across multiple dates then selectively filter the data, based on a date and time period, database point names, etc. The selected data can be displayed in a variety of charts, saved to a file, or copied  to the clipboard to be pasted in another application like Excel.  The data can also be printed directly in tabular form or exported to CIMPrint, then printed in a more sophisticated report format.

If you need more sophisticated reporting than CIMRecall and CIMPrint provide, the comma and tab-delimited logs can be easily imported into most spreadsheet or data analysis packages.

CIMPrint:

Report Generation Software

CIMPrint

CIMPrint is an easy to configure report generator that acts as a server application with CIMScan to create reports from data and alarm logs.  Depending on what you choose to include, the report may contain data tables, a summary of alarm information, data statistics (max, min, etc.), and a graph showing as many as 14 data values.  If you are using the PRO or greater versions of CIMScan, you can also include the test header information, such as name of test, part number, and operator.

CIMAlert:

Automatic Messaging Software

CIMAlert

CIMAlert is a server application that adds automatic message delivery to CIMScan. All CIMScan packages have the ability to create a user-defined text message containing the current values from the real-time database. CIMAlert can transmit these messages to one or more recipients via Telephone, E-Mail, Pager, or over a PA System. Spoken messages are first converted from text to high quality intelligible speech before they are delivered.  A typical use would be to transmit a message when a database point reached an alarm limit. The message could include variables, like the name of the database point, the data value, the units of measure, alarm limits, plus any pre-defined text you wish.

I/O Hardware:

eLinks, RTU's, and I/O Pods

Ethernet-Based eLink Controllers

The eLink controllers are used extensively to implement distributed data acquisition and monitoring system, especially when networks that support TCP/IP are already in place (like Ethernet).  The eLinks in the system handle all of the local communications at the distributed sites, perform any special calculations, do local control, and manage the flow of data to and from the CIMScan host.

RTU's SCADA Applications

An extended temperature range version of our standard eLink data acquisition controller provides a very flexible and cost-effective RTU for a wide range of SCADA applications.

I/O Pods

CIMScan's I/O Pods are self-contained data acquisition units that communicate with all models of CIMTechniques’ distributed I/O controllers via a high speed serial data link called PodNet.

Sensors and Transmitters:

Temperature, Humidity, Pressure, and Thermocouples

Temperature & Humidity Sensors

We offer a number of temperature and humidity sensors manufactured by General Eastern for use with our cleanroom facilities and laboratory monitoring systems.

Low Differential Pressure Transmitters

Differential pressure transmitters are used to monitor and insure that cleanrooms maintain a positive air pressure.  They are also used to monitor the pressure across airlocks, the pressure gradient in fume hoods, and the flow in ducts.  We can provide very cost-effective pressure transmitters for these functions from Setra Systems.

Gauge Pressure and Vacuum Transmitters

A wide range of low cost, accurate, rugged transmitters are available to measure pressure in compressed air, water, hydraulic lines.  Devices that measure from 0-1 psig to 0-50,000 psig are available.  Vacuum transmitters are also available to measure down to 5 atmospheres.  These devices are manufactured by Setra Systems.

T/C's for Freezer & Refrigerator Monitoring

Special low cost, made-to-order thermocouple assemblies are manufactured by CIMTechniques and are specifically designed to monitor the temperature levels in freezers, refrigerators, and environmental chambers.
