CIMRecall is a standalone application that helps you evaluate the data collected in CIMScan log files. You can merge data from log files across multiple dates then selectively filter the data, based on a date and time period, database point names, etc. The selected data can be displayed in a variety of charts, saved to a file, or copied  to the clipboard to be pasted in another application like Excel.  The data can also be printed directly in tabular form or exported to CIMPrint, then printed in a more sophisticated report format.

CIMScan Log Format

All CIMScan log files can be created as "day files" with the contents containing data or information for a single day.  With each day change, a new file is created with the date contained in the first six characters of the file name in "mmddyy" format, followed by a hash sign ("#").  The rest of the log file's name can be system-generated or assigned by the user on a log  by log basis.  Data log files have the ".log" extension.

Loading a Data Set

The user can select a folder containing one or more log files and CIMRecall will analyze the contents of the folder and display the date range for each of the log files encountered.  Then, you simply select the log and the date and time range that you are interested in.  CIMRecall will then open the logs in chronological order and load the data into a spreadsheet with the first column containing the date and time stamp for each record.

The following is a screenshot of the CIMRecall data grid.

Searching the Data Set

The data displayed in CIMRecall can be scanned for specific conditions, such as database points in alarm and numeric values that are greater than, less than, or equal to a reference value. The text in the log can be checked to see if it contains (or does NOT contain) specific words.

Charting

The data can be displayed in a Trend chart, showing the values over a period of time. The trend charts can be divided into as many as 6 regions so that a large number of traces can be displayed clearly and plotted against different y-axis values. The Pilot chart, which compresses all the data from a database point into a single chart, lets you quickly view a large data set all at once and zero in on data that is inconsistent or abnormal.

The following is a screenshot of a typical trend chart.

Statistics

CIMRecall provides the ability to calculate the following statistics for each column (CIMScan database point) on any portion of the data set.
  • Max (and date/time when occurred)
  • Min
  • Mean
  • Range
  • Standard Deviation

User Calculations

With the PRO version of CIMRecall, you can specify your own statistics to be calculated and displayed.  One or more additional columns in the dataset can be created using CIMRecall-PRO and its contents populated based on user-defined calculations.

Printing and Exporting Data

The complete dataset or the data contained in specific columns and date/time ranges can be printed directly from CIMRecall as a simple spreadsheet or sent to CIMPrint for a formatted report.  The same data can be exported to a file and sent to another party or imported into Excel or any other data analysis package.  The exported file can optionally have a ODBC Schema created so that the file can be accessed as an ODBC dataset.

Validating a Dataset

The PRO version of CIMRecall also provides the ability to compare the digital signatures associated with a log file with the actual data contained within the log. If the data has been altered in any way, the user will be immediately alerted.
